Artists' Bios

David Silver started photographing at age 14. Having grown up in the tri-state area, Mr. Silver knows well the beauty and richness that our region offers. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the Hudson Valley became the perfect subject of his photography.

Mr. Silver received his Bachelors of Arts in Photography from Bard College, where he honed his aesthetic and mastered the technical aspect of the art form. Studying under faculty who included Stephen Shore and Douglas Baz, Bard College in Annandale-on-the-Hudson provided an ideal setting for the young artist.

Using everything from an 8x10 view camera to a 35 mm digital SLR, Mr. Silver's distinct style can be seen in everything he does. Consisting of mostly landscapes and cityscapes, his work shows the richness of the Hudson Valley, as well as the elegance of the city. An avid traveler, Mr. Silver’s many adventures in the both the United States and in Europe have been inspirational and his collection, including photos from Wyoming to San Remo Italy. For over five years, his work has shown consistently at the Port of Call Gallery in Orange County, and has also shown at the Barrett House and Hammerquest Galleries in New York City.

All of the photographers prints are un-cropped with no digital or darkroom manipulation. They are developed/printed/framed entirely by Mr. Silver. Currently, Mr. Silver is using a state-of-the-art/high-end inkjet printing system, with carbon-based inks incorporating seven shades of black - the quality of which is well over 200 years, consistent with silver gelatin b&w prints.
